'Art development is where the look and feel of the film is determined.I have divided the film up into what I call "stages" (as in the theater) where each location has an emotional connotation. Her bedroom is where Emelia goes to escape but also reveals her own conflicted emotional state, the playground reveals how she feels about the other children, and so on. Altogether there are 4 major emotional stages in the film. The challenge is to have each reflect a unique and complex psychological "place" for Emelia and at the same time maintain continuity throughout the film.
